Before You Visit A French Bulldog Breeder WA

By Jerry Long

French bulldogs are becoming more popular, and you may have taken a liking to this breed. So much so that you are now willing to go to the nearest French Bulldog Breeder WA now that you are living in Seattle WA Before you do so, take time to read on in this article about this breed of dog.

In short, the breed is sometimes lovingly called a frenchie by enthusiasts and breeders alike. Comparing it with is cousin the English bulldog, one will immediately see that it is much smaller with a more compact and rounder body and smaller legs. Its face, when looked at directly from the front will appear quite bat like, probably because of the presence of ears that are always erect.

Most dog owners of this breed will give a rating of medium as regards its energy. Despite this fairly high rating, it is quite okay with not moving around too much around the whole day, just like the English bulldog. Thus being such, this dog will do perfectly well as a companion in small living spaces such as condominiums and small apartments in urban areas. It is however advised that you do give it at least a 30 minute walk everyday to help it dissipate its excess energy.

As this breed possesses a compact airway that is coupled with a pug nose, it will have the peculiar inability to regulate its internal body temperature. This basically means that it will have a hard time to keep its internal body core at a constant temperature in extreme temperatures, which are present in extreme climates like sub arctic and tropical climes. Thus it is best that you keep this dog if you yourself live in a temperate region. Extreme temperatures have been known to be deadly for this dog.

A lifespan of around 8 to 10 years is the average for this breed, which is quite short. As it progresses in age it will develop some cataracts in its eyes that it will need attending to Regular check ups and proper maintenance as prescribed by your vet should enable you to add a bit more time to its short lifespan.

Many owners of this dog will tell you that this is one real attention monger once you own it. It will demand more attention than any other regular dog and if it feels that it is not getting the requisite attention that it feels it needs, it will let out the French death yodel. This is an eerie sounding ululating moan that it lets out when it is disappointed. Thus always give it the attention it craves.

The frenchie is quite safe to keep around children and other animals or even dogs. This is because it lacks the typical alpha behavior present in most bulldogs, particularly the English variety. It surprisingly exhibits a more maternal and protective demeanor over those that it cares for.

Once you do decide on visiting any of the breeders in the area, do make sure to make an ocular inspection of facilities when you are there. The animals that they keep must be well cared for, and glean any initial conversations to see if they really care for their animals rather than just breed them for profit.
