Simple And Nourishing Dry Skin Treatment

By Susan Watson

There are several basic types of skin, dry, oily, normal and combined. Each has its own characteristics and requirements. There are really good products for taking care of this largest body organ, whatever type it might be. But, if you are in search for a simple and easy dry skin treatment, this few ideas might be helpful.

Dry type is especially sensitive. Even so, just a little change of your usual habits might make a great difference. Start with your showering routine. Use warm water instead of hot and don't spend more than five minutes in your shower.

Shower milks and gels must not contain alcohol, perfumes and the like. It is best to choose oil-based shower milks and those containing a high percentage of body care lotions. You should never use soaps, as mild shower milk is much gentler solution. Of course, you should use it in small quantities.

Never rub your body with a towel, simply tap it with a very soft one, to remove some of water. Apply generous amounts of some good quality body lotion while your body is still wet. Every once in a while, apply pure almond oil instead. It is highly nutritive and makes your skin soft and elastic. Maybe you should do it in the evening, before going to bed. Wear cotton pajama to protect your linen.

If some parts of the body are damaged and scratched, try this old recipe. Mix a large spoonful of organic honey and a spoonful of olive oil. Add ten drops of chanterelle oil to it. Apply this mixture to the damaged parts, cover with cotton cloths and leave for about fifteen minutes. If the damaged parts are on the heels, wear socks and leave them overnight. After that, rinse with warm water and apply moisturizing body milk.

Dry skin is especially sensitive to sun, and can easily get red or get sunburns. Protect it every single day, regardless of the season. If you get burned anyway, here is one simple and effective remedy. Pure heavy sour cream is great for this. Other types could use yogurt for this purpose, but you should apply sour cream on burned or red areas. After ten minutes or so, rinse and apply your usual caring lotion.

When it comes to face masks, some can be made at home really easily. For example, this one. You will need a food processor. Put one banana, a spoon of honey, yogurt and almond oil. Almond oil can be replaced with good quality olive oil. Mix smoothly, and apply on your body, and on your face. Leave it there for maybe ten minutes. Rinse thoroughly, tap with soft towel and use your moisturizer.

Of course, you have to nourish your skin from the inside as well. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables and drink enough water. Carbonated drinks should be avoided, as well as alcohol. Alcohol is equally bad as an ingredient in your cosmetic products. Mild deodorants without alcohol are much better solution. Avoid various additives in your cosmetic products as well as in your food, and check if you have any allergies.
